80-slide carousel. It does take some time to load the carousel and start the process, but once it is going
the scanner is very fast. It supports a range of scan image photo sizes and compression ratios to trade
off picture quality verses file size.

Flatbed Scanner with Optical Character Recognition
Station #5
The HP Scanjet G3110 offers a range of picture scanning options and enhancements. The flatbed
scanners are preferred for fragile photographs and photographs removed from albums that have
adhesives that prevent them from being used in the fast photo scanners. It is much slower than the fast photo scanners. The library’s HP Scanjet G4050 offers similar picture scanning capability.
The G3110 scanner software includes optical character recognition software that can convert clean text
images to computer-readable documents that can be edited.

Flatbed Scanner with Transparent Media Adapter for Slides and Negatives
Station #4
Epson Perfection V600 Photo Flatbed Scanner scans photos. After reconfiguration with a film adapter, it can medium format negatives, 35 mm slides and negatives.

Book and Document Scanner
Station #10
The CZUR Aura Pro book and document scanner can scan text documents and books such as personal journals. For document scanning, the scanner locates the documents on its scanning mat without requiring precise document placement. For scanning books, the operator aligns the center of the open page on the scanning mat. The scanner makes a preliminary scan with three laser beams, measuring the curvature of the pages. It then simultaneously captures the left and right pages and uses proprietary
software to remove the curvature from the scan and save a flattened scan image. With practice an
operator can scan at a rate of 2 pages/second.
