Shift Worker Responsibilities

  • Will serve a 2 1/2 hour shift assignment each week
  • Begin with Prayer Meeting
  • Greet each visitor – invite them to sign in
  • Assist each guest with their specific request
  • Learn the resources of the center
  • Participate in on-going training
  • Attend monthly in-service meetings
  • Serve as a shift coordinator on a quarterly rotating schedule
  • Be willing to substitute for other shift workers
  • Engage in your own family history work only when there are no patrons to assist and as a means to further your knowledge of family history work
  • Sanitize work stations at the end of each shift
  • Participate in a yearly assigned deep clean of the center

In addition to the above responsibilities, specific shifts have the following responsibilities:

Opening Shift

  • Unlock the center
  • Replenish desk supplies
  • Wipe down Discovery Screens
  • Turn on Discovery Screens
  • Make sure all computers are on

Closing Shift

  • Take out garbage if needed
  • Vacuum if needed
  • Lock staff closet
  • Turn out all lights
  • Lock all doors
  • Ensure exterior door is latched upon leaving
